Danny Robinson here - yes, the guy in the video from this post. I just watched it and realized that I mis represented something and feel that I need to clarify. I said that I sold the Spinway to United Online. Technically, we sold the company to BlueLight.com (the online arm of Kmart) who then later sold it to United Online. I usually say "Spinway was eventually sold to United Online" which is a shorter way of letting people know where it is today. In fact, our old lead developer, Curt Varner, still works there as VP, Advanced Technology Group at United Online, Inc. And the BlueLight.com service is still in operation today.
hahahaha, if youtube adds some categories and ranks people by their scores, you die in 1 day. tried the site and it sucks, just has some youtube vids that are harder to find than on youtube. This is one of the businesses that sounds like a good idea, but people don't realize this is already going on on youtube. love how all of the profiles are just youtubers, makes my point!! this is already happening, why the hell do you think people post stuff there, respond, etc.
What you see on the site as of today is a sampling of existing YouTube content, and not videos that were created specifically for the sake of competing- so I understand your position to a certain extent. I'm glad that you recognize that we sound "like a good idea," because once we've released all of our features and functionality, that idea will become that much more clear.
YouTube's ratings and taxonomy don't (and likely won't) support the kind of interaction that our site does, and we have already been given the thumbs up from dev folks from inside the "Big G" for our use of the YouTube api.
So keep an eye on us, Dear Naysayer. And don't be afraid to continue to challenge us. As it turns out, we love a good challenge.
It's very pleasure to meet up at strutta, I worked in gaming industry many years.
